Watch the recording of our session on BAME retention at UK Construction Week
As yet another
report is circulated highlighting the well documented lack of diversity and
social mobility in the sector, isn’t it time to come together and deliver
something practical and sustainable that will enable more people from BAME
(Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic) communities to begin and succeed in built
environment careers? How about a practical solution that can be developed
together and used by both clients and other organisations that work with
diverse audiences to provide a more effective service?
We
joined in with Bola Abisogun OBE, Founder and Chair of
DiverseCity Surveyors, and other key speakers to run a
session on diversity and inclusion from a BAME perspective. This session offers a real solution to the question of how we
challenge and change the culture of the industry. The aim of this event was not
to be a talking shop or to produce a report, but to bring about structural and
sustainable change. If you missed the session live, you
can watch the recording on YouTube.
One
participant commented:
"Right time, right place
for this platform. Great work."
Another added:
"We have tried to change
the environment by stealth. But now we need to be a bit more direct."
