Opportunity Description
Grosvenor Property UK currently has an opportunity for a Clerk of Works role within the Operations Team. The Operations Team is made up of 87 people, which includes a team of 4 Building Surveyors and 7 Project Managers.
The main purpose of the role is to provide quality and compliance control for building works carried out, in support of the Building Surveyors and Project Managers, across the London Estate, whilst always protecting heritage and architectural quality.
This role involves active management of internal and external stakeholder relationships, including participation in working groups and supporting wider business initiatives as and when required. The role requires a pro-active approach to innovation, sustainability, community, and fee income generating opportunities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- To support the Building Surveying Team to maintain and enhance the physical condition and external appearance of the London Estate buildings
- Carry out inspections to monitor redecoration/ breaches works identified by Building Surveyors
- To support the Building Surveying & Project Management Teams to ensure that the lessee’s/freeholder’s works are carried out in accordance with approved plans and the Grosvenor Specification
- To monitor works carried out by the Project Management Team to ensure compliance with approved plans and the Grosvenor Specification
- To provide support to the London Estate Team Management Surveyors and Property Managers in dealing with reactive maintenance and problem solving
- To provide support and assistance to the London Team and to our customers in dealing with queries and complaints
- To liaise with tenant/freeholders regarding queries and complaints relating to their own and neighbouring properties
- To provide support and assistance in connection with the Public Realm works
- To ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation on all construction sites and to keep the Mayfair and Belgravia teams updated on all matters of H&S and their responsibilities
KEY REQUIREMENTS
- Knowledge and understanding of historic/listed buildings, with some previous experience of working in this area
- Keen interest in property, buildings, sustainability, and construction
- High level of attention to detail: The successful candidates will need to understand, and apply, the Grosvenor specifications and policies and confirm that works undertaken are in line with these, and the relevant approvals, and be able to identify any potential breaches
- Proven track record in ability to proactively undertake tasks projecting credibility and a positive attitude; taking the initiative; tackling challenges with enthusiasm
- Problem solving – uses own initiative to identify opportunities and resolve challenges
- Much of this role is based on site, and on foot, inspecting properties, public and private realm works across Mayfair and Belgravia. An understanding of onsite health and safety is therefore essential
